Each year, we celebrate the achievements of our people by holding our very own Oscars awards to rival the main event in Hollywood. This gives our team members the opportunity to recognise their peers across eight categories, including Best Team Player, Best Customer Service, and Rising Star. This year we had the highest ever number of nominations, and it was fantastic to read through all our submissions.

We revealed our winners on Oscars Day, where I was lucky enough to dust off my bow tie ready to present certificates and prizes!

We then held a special Oscar Winners Breakfast at nearby Clevedon Hall – a fantastic way to round off the celebrations.

Reward and recognition are two of the key areas of our People Plan, making our Oscars a huge highlight in our annual calendar.

Reaching 10,000 Trustpilot reviews

📢 Exciting news 📢

In April, we reached 10,000 Trustpilot reviews, almost 5 years to the day since we launched on the platform!

Wessex Water is the only water company actively seeking feedback from customers in this way, allowing us to continuously review our processes and identify ways we can improve the service we offer.

Being active on Trustpilot also means we can celebrate outstanding individual and team contributions, showing the tangible difference we make to our customers.

I am so proud to see us reach this milestone with a rating of ‘Excellent’! ⭐

The hard work doesn’t stop there though; we are always looking to build and enhance our reputation for service excellence.

Inside life at Pelican: our new careers video

Last year we launched brand new careers webpages to entice potential new team members with our latest opportunities. The new pages feel really slick and intuitive, giving a great insight into life inside Pelican.

To bring our culture to life, we have recently added a new ‘Life at Pelican’ video to the page, which I absolutely love. Spoiler alert – it even features some exceptional drone footage showing one of our Meter Readers in action! You can watch the video here. Launching our 2024 Virtual Pelican Brief

Our mid-year ‘Virtual’ Pelican Brief gives our team members a punchy video update on our performance as we enter the new financial year, and celebrates successes from the previous 12 months. We enjoyed welcoming Jack from Beyond Films to take some great footage – as you can see from the photos, we had a lot of fun!

We had some great feedback from our teams following the video, which was played at team huddles to encourage discussion on our calls to action, ready to take away and start applying day to day. This left us feeling energised for the year ahead, with lots coming up to look forward to (not least our Summer Party in July, which you will read about in my next blog!).
