Our leadership team

Charley Maher

Managing Director

Charley joined Pelican Business Services as Managing Director in January 2015 and has over 20 years’ experience in engaging and leading large teams to deliver award-winning customer service. Following an incredibly varied career in a number of industries including travel, financial services, renewable energy and construction, Charley has a strong track record of simplification, commercial growth, and customer and client satisfaction.

Charley is proud of the unique culture which has been created at Pelican, where we empower our team to continuously improve the first-class experience they provide customers, whilst supporting and promoting personal development and equal opportunities for all team members.

In her personal life Charley is a wife, mum and founder of The NICU Foundation, a non-profit charity that, in partnership with the South West Neonatal Network, supports the delivery of Neonatal Care within the 12 Units across the South West of England. Charley is also an SS Great Britain Trust Board member, supporting the Trust’s ambitious and exciting plans for the future of the iconic Bristol landmark.

Oliver Jerrome

Director of Customer Services

Oliver joined the Pelican team in January 2018 having previously worked within financial services leading large customer facing teams and supporting national change programmes. His main areas of focus are creating a positive and supportive working environment for our people, whilst striving to further improve the experience our customers receive when they contact us.

Outside of work, Oliver enjoys travelling and holidays with his wife and two daughters in addition to being a keen Bristol Rovers supporter.

Sarah Coombs

Business Manager

Sarah joined Pelican Business Services in 2017 after a successful and extremely varied 25 years with Wessex Water. A trained IT Project Manager, Sarah has a wealth of experience in project management, leadership and customer excellence. Before joining Pelican, Sarah also spent a year with auto energy switching company Flipper, as Chief Operating Officer, managing the business transfer from London to Bristol.

In her spare time, Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband and two grown up boys, as well as walking, swimming, reading and travelling.

Alex Chapman

Director of Finance

Alex is an ACA qualified chartered accountant and has occupied senior Finance positions in the banking, information technology and debt recovery sectors before joining Pelican Business Services in May 2015.

Having had a balance of FTSE and SME roles, Alex is able to draw upon a variety of experiences when faced with business challenges as and when they arise.  Alex has occupied Board level positions for over 10 years of his career and has extensive project experience including large-scale outsourcing, implementing new IT systems and developing analytical tools to drive better decision making.

As well as spending time with his wife and two children, Alex enjoys running, playing football and partaking in the occasional sky dive and abseiling event.

Amy Badman

Director of Customer Billing

Amy joined the team in 2016 bringing with her a wealth of experience of leadership in financial services. She is proud to lead a team where customer experience is key, and where support and guidance is provided to customers who may struggle with their bills.

Away from work, Amy is a keen runner having taken on a couple of marathons in recent years, and can be found at a local parkrun most Saturday mornings. She also has a passion for theatre and loves to travel.

Charlotte Webb

Charlotte Webb

Charlotte joined the Pelican team in May 2022. An Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) services lead, Charlotte has worked in the IT and technology sector for a number of years with a focus on driving operational performance and cultural improvements across teams to enrich the customer experience. She is passionate about driving innovation, technology and digital enhancement through business and cultural transformation.   

Outside work, Charlotte likes to play golf, go on long walks with her two dogs and, when she can, watch Bristol Bears rugby.
